The Beginning

  • High Clan founded circa 1999
  • Original founders: Fetus, Sugarbear, Kryto
  • First members: Dark Helmet, Sirlagsalot, Gearhead22, Navin, Radar, Twiztid
The first person of this crew that I met was Dark Helmet on a Coret server. He didn't join until after because he had to pawn his computer at one time, lol..

We all used to play on servers run by the LAN clan Orca, a group of players from outside Chicago who didn't play competitively. One day when Lags introduced me to IRC, I decided the time was right to throw together a team of us pub-all-stars. I arranged to meet with Kryto and Sugarbear (great player) and told them what I was thinking. The hardest part of the clan creation process was the name. I would give a lot of money for one of these two to come up with a log of the names that this clan almost was... LOL

Sadly, I'm not in contact with either of them anymore. Finally it was decided to just call the clan "High." It was original to use an adjective as a name. That was the one thing we agreed on, that this clan would be completely different from any other. Another few hours and we had our tag: .-H-^

Our first clan scrim I believe was a 3v3 vs {AMS}; I still see Cube time to time. I forgot who won that one but it was decided by like 1 cap either way. Our first clan 5v5 scrim that I recall was vs Orca on Coret. I don't think I have had as much fun on voice since that first time we got on BattleCOM <- LOL Radar, Navin, Gearhead, myself, and I forget who else.. It was really fun for me at the time cuz these cats were a lot older than me for the most part (I was what like 15-16?). ANYWAY, yeah they were older and all drunk and shit; it was a riot. We laughed the whole time freepizza from Orca (and a future High member) fucking hosed us all playing one-man offense while the rest of his team played D/mid. Not to even mention these guys were all on LAN and it was THEIR LAN server after all.. We had a great time.. I don't think I had a better time losing since.

Hellsbest and EvilMoose I believe were our next pickups.

Our first official match was played on CTF-Diamondsword. We slaughtered the clan USB (Unreal Slaughter Brigade lolz) 10-0. Hellsbest, Twiz, Sugar, myself, and I think Radar or Navin played this one. Our first grudge match was vs Cains Lair Regulars [CLR], where we hosed them on FACE and they bitched about something, I forget what. Anyway we played them again because back then we didn't care about ladders much, and hosed them again.

Kursed and Spider came along soon after. The two gay Canadian lovers, interracial gay couple. By this time Kryto, Gearhead, Navin were pretty much inactive. Oh yeah and our first and only Father-Son combination Crucifix and then named Skid-mark, LOL, they were good but had attitudes and didn't last all that long.. Last time I saw Skid he was playing for the UT clan Atari. Crux I still see around every now and again.

The next generation of High included Twiz, Kursed, Shin (awesome azn flag runner), Spider, and you guessed it, the king of gay, the record holder of clan quits and kicks - NecroNinja. I found this gay little fucker camping a tower on a Facing Worlds server. He was trying out for DOPE. He joined DOPE, and quit them (never told them just played under a new name LOL was funny when they found that one out). I think he was in some gay clan DRF or something like that when we crossed paths and I was like "dude those guys suck come join us" and he was like "lol ok." It was actually quite simple rofl.

Yeah so it was at about this time when some fucking faggots from |UD|, excidium, sadistic, and blackdrug started trying to get in on our Orca territory. So after owning these fagtards on Thorns numerous times, especially excidium, they died and somehow I ended up with the least talented of the three, excidium.

We did well on the ladders I forget who we were playing at this time.. I think we played [-CC-] for the first time around now.. I think I need to put emphasis on how much of a prick Matt (NN) was at this time. Every match turned into a grudge match because of the shit we gave people.

I can't really put a staple on when we picked up Tybalt. I remember it came when [XTC] died and he came in a package deal, a damn shitty package. He brought along with him some girl who went by the handle Katie. She didn't have much going for her other than decent looks, and loved e-drama. Blake is like that nerdy dude who is a girl's bestfriend and wants to bang her but she would never take him seriously. Spider got his e-mack going on this bitch too and he and Kursed actually played on a 3v3 ladder with those 2. We clearly didn't care about community or anything like that. Kursed and Shin became inactive and were replaced by T-Chaos (best face sniper in this game period) and his older brother Rampage (best 56k player in this game period). This happened either right before or after sexcidium joined.. I forget.

So anyway we gay around on the ladders and do pretty damn well for a noob clan. We def had a good winning record and for the duration of our stay we stayed within the top 20 on OGL (back when ladders had like 100+ teams.. wasn't bad). By the time we left for UT2003 we were def one of the top seeded teams and had been for a long time. We had the priveledge of playing in two UTIs I believe, maybe just 1, and a Shockwave that started it all.

Shockwave Checkpoint
• Lineup: NecroNinja, freepizza, Rampage, T Chaos, Tybalt, excidium
I was away at bootcamp for most of Shockwave.. will add more later.....

Some things I can't place in order... Cheezgrl8ya, lol, was our first woman member and she was fucking awesome.. probably one of the better girl players all time in this game, and little known. There was also a period where I wasn't active right before Shockwave 6.

More history to come, stay tuned...
